Omega 3 Fish Oil and Joint Health

Omega-3 essential fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) possess novel anti-inflammatory compounds, such as resolvins and protectins. Because they contain these compounds, DHA and EPA can be considered natural anti-inflammatory. Their anti-inflammatory effect has been shown to contribute to reducing pain and joint conditions due to inflammation.

While joint pain is a commonly known symptom of an inflammatory condition, there are other inflammatory conditions where adequate dietary Omega-3s may have a positive effect. Research continues but early indications would suggest Omega-3s to be a beneficial natural complement to traditional medical treatments.
