The Anti-Inflammatory Properties Of Omega 3 Fatty Acids Provide Back Pain Relief

Omega 3 fatty acids are among the several nutrients that the human body can extract from marine oil. Omega 3 fatty acids, which are distinctly different from the family of Omega 6 and Omega 9 fatty acids, have anti-inflammatory attributes that can provide relief from several physiological conditions, including back pain relief.
There are two aspects that you have to note in order to understand why Omega 3 fatty acids offer back pain relief.
The first aspect deals with back pain and its two types – inflammatory and mechanical. In both cases, back pain would involve the spine, including the muscles, tissues, ligaments, bones and joints. Mechanical back pain is typically caused by injury or due to any musculoskeletal problem and the condition is confined to the muscles or bones. In inflammatory back pain, tissues or ligaments, joints or muscles are subject to inflammation. This is where Omega 3 fatty acids and its anti-inflammatory properties come in.
The second aspect deals in why Omega3 fatty acids provide back pain relief. Research has proved that Omega 3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties. Inflammation that causes back pain is worsened or accentuated by prostaglandins. These are substances similar to hormones that the body produces naturally. Omega 3 fatty acids have the ability to reduce the secretion of prostaglandins and also reduce the effectiveness of the prostaglandins that are produced. With less prostaglandin in the body, you can get back pain relief. This is also the first step to manage the back pain and to regulate it.
Omega 6 fatty acids get converted to prostaglandins by the COX 1 enzyme. When such prostaglandins are formed, back pain becomes worse. Omega 3 fatty acids prevent Omega 6 fatty acids from becoming prostaglandins. Instead, Omega 3 fatty acids eventually get converted to prostaglandins but they do not contribute to inflammation. Even if they do, the impact is as much as fifty times less than what naturally produced prostaglandins or Omega 6 fatty acids converted to prostaglandins have.
In a nutshell, Omega 3 fatty acids not only offer back pain relief temporarily but it soothes the inflammation entirely over time. Back pain can be a chronic condition and if left untreated can become a lifelong problem. Omega 3 fatty acids with the anti-inflammatory properties are the most natural remedy for back pain relief.
